Three issues of import were discussed at the recent city council meeting:

Deputy Mayor Boris Grossman revealed that 20 new departure/arrival times would be added to the school bus transportation schedule this year.

Another burning issue (pun intended) was the proposed shift in location of the local Fire and Rescue station from his current abode in Givat Hameyasdim to the Nofei Selah (07) neighborhood. Mayor Beni Kashriel also mentioned that an enhanced fire truck was ordered from Finland, while an additional mobile unit has already been purchased.

Predications and possible scenarios following the Palestinian Authority’s threatened UN proclamation of statehood this month were also discussed. Mayor Kashiel revealed that he is in contact with the IDF’s area commander, who promised not to abandon the residents of Ma’ale Adumim to our Arab neighbors’ “boisterous parading” in its support. If need be, the commander will weigh the possibility of reinforcing his troops with a call-up of reservists.
